Mediterranean Bordeaux blend

I am not generally keen on international grapes being planted in countries where the local varieties produce more characterful wines. The producer seems to think the same, as she stopped producing this wine in 2005. Having said that, it is a pity because it is indeed a characterful wine, despite the Bordeaux blend. It is full without being jammy, rustic without being clumsy and very tasty indeed. And as you can see, it ages beautifully.

Mi sono innamorato dei vini La Stoppa dopo un soggiorno a Bobbio, nel piacentino. Della stessa cantina raccomando anche il Trebbiolo, che ha un eccellente rapporto qualità/prezzo. "La Stoppa" è un vino certamente più maturo e impegnativo, frutto dell'ottimo lavoro di Elena Pantaleoni (si tratta solo di vini da uva biologica vinificata con metodi naturali). Lo raccomando.

Elena Pantaleoni travaille son raisin naturellement à la vigne comme au chai, 40% cabernet sauvignon, 40% merlot, 20% autre cépages bordelais, macération de 30 jours avec levures indigènes, 14 mois en barriques une pure merveille pour un tarif bien inférieur à un Bordeaux de la même qualité.

Repeating myself on the subject of the younger 2016. This is a hugely flavoursome Barberra that has mellowed into big satisfying red.
